Not been on here in a while, and to be honest not done a great deal to the van either.

The bits I can remember are making a rear step so it's easier for us to climb in and out the back. Made this from some 6mm metal plate I found, choped to shape and glued in place with the mig (I'll take a pic and post it up when I remember). Some time after making it I wire brushed off the surface rust that had formed and painted it up in the finest left over hammerite from the garage, proper job. It was my first go at welding so I was dead chuffed that it works a treat and the fence that fell down when I reversed into it showed it's well strong enough

Changed the fuel filter for the first time in my ownership today. Feels like I have bolted up a turbo, van goes like a rocket (for a DI ) I'm gonna chop the old one in half and see what lies within.

Clutch is really complaining of late, it's fine in it's action although squeals like a pig when cold, think it's the release bearing but not 100% sure. I've cleared all the shite out the back and with the bulkhead removed too you can really hear that diff whine, they all do that though don't they???

Recently picked up another RWD Ford which is getting most of my love and attention of late, not selling my van though.

So the trusty and very rusty mk5 knew her time was nigh and responded this morn with point blank refusal to start (she must have overheard me speak of a cleaner less rusty van and gone got all jealous). I have some misgivings about this, mainly due to the water under the bridge although also something to do with proper vans being noisey and oil burning but he fact remains that I 've just scored a probable replacement mk5, this time in 2L twink flavour.

Short term plan is looking like ticket the new one, camper it up and enjoy. It now has fresh battery and is running under it's own steam and looks to need little work for the mot. Long term, well I'd like a LWB mk1 or 2 it's just even the rough end of the scale command more £ than I have at the mo.

The Milka bar coloured one (pig) now has to go as the white one (mum) has fresh t+t and a merge 55k on her underworked body. Much as I'm attached to my old one there's only one choice to make here.
