6 wheels

Postby pat stevens » Thu Oct 07, 2010 10:03 pm

havnt been on for a while nice to see all the interest in the 6 wheel option
also a couple of nice pics of my old 6 wheel cf hellrazor which i cut up around 15 yrs ago due to dreaded rust and also valhalla cf my mate has owend for around 10 yrs that went under the grinder recently due to rust shame really bolth were ledgends of their time valhalla built by bill hughes over 20 yrs ago (who now runs valhalla dodge van 6 wheeler ) and hell razor built by dragonart in bham around the same time hellrazor used 2 jag irs units which looked fantastic but lost drive when rear axle was on raised surface such as speed humps .i took it to a show in coven wolverhampton and got stuck on show field while valhalla used 2 cf axles with a mixture of cut leaf springs and jag coil over shocks ,. ive had the idea opf adding a second axle on my transit and extending the back but this time using a rear beam from somthing like a talbot express or peugeot boxer to save weight and ease of mounting .id love to see how youve mounted axles on your project van as im always open to ideas your never too old to learn somthing new lol
if its got tits or wheels its always gonna end in trouble !!!
anyone can restore a van but it takes a real man to chop it up !!!

I'm sure there'll be plenty of pics of the build, when it starts.

i'm thinking of mounting the 2nd axle on softer leafs, for mounts i'll make some attached to the btm of the chassis rails and moving the spring mounts on the 2nd axle inboard :D

come along for the weekend mate we could do with your experiance :D

Both axles are mounted on one pair of leaf springs. Same problem though as only the middle axle is drive it gets stuck at the slightest sign of trouble.
