Postby gofer » Sat Aug 05, 2006 10:42 pm

was approached by a disabled guy yesterday asking about my mark 6. wanted to know if throttle pedal "was fly by wire", and if it could be overridden to make a hand throttle. he doesnt want to pay for expensive mechanical sytem. i said i didnt know but would ask on forum for him and give him a bell. what do you guys think?

if it's a diesel, it's drive by wire :)

There's always a way to do something, it usually comes down to ££££ though.

It must have been done though, because there are cruise kits available for MK6 and they'd need some control on throttle position.

these things are usually attached mechanically to the pedal itself direct so "fly by wire" should make no difference to it

Mechanical to the pedal would be easier.

I used to fit this sort of stuff when I worked for a vauxhall motability dealer - few brackets and self tappers through the dash here an there and it basically clamps to the existing pedal and allows normal use for abled drivers - I've fitted kits that brought all three controls up to hand level - bit fiddly but not that hard

can't think of the supplier at the moment
