some will lose their injector correction factors, some are suffering EGR faults and some just have injectors which over fuel.

an overfuelled cylinder causes the others to underfuel in order to bring the engine back under control.....but then the under fuelling reverses the process and you get the lumpy idle.

It is also a traight of the vehicle that they seem to shuffle at constant Mway speeds as if surging.

I have noticed with mine every now and then it smokes quite badly when it had the hunt/miss the dealer put it down to bad fuel then when I picked it up told me the injectors had lost calibration it doesn't hunt now but every so often billows smoke out the back still goes like a train tho but sometimes runs a little lumpy I wonder if one of the above could be the problem

thinking about it my mk5 100ps does this :( :( :(
You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.

I use Hartwell Ford on ST Andrews RD in Huddersfield you could give the garage foreman a ring if you want. maybe he might be able to help in some way.He is called "Steve" 01484432087.

He told me the chirping sound was due to the masive amount of torqe on the engine any way its sorted now :)

"Some issues with the 137" .........Phew, thought it was just me.

While mine hasn't broken down or anything, it is just a bit dissapointing as mentioned earlier. When I ordered mine, I had only test driven a 125rwd (10 miles on the clock) and thought it was a bit underwelming, so decided to have a 137 version for the extra £599. (as otherwise would ended up being a 'new' 115 version by the time it was built - there is a 6 to 12 month lead time for delivery with the convertor.

The main thing was on delivery, the van was barely drivable due to the clutch being far too severe. After nearly 18 months now and 16,000 miles it is getting better, visits to the dealer about it were just left me feeling insulted,as if I was a timewaster, even though the mechanic driving into the workshop stalled it twice in front of me. They said that they are all a bit like that and dismissed me.

The most annoying thing is the sporadic jerking it does at a constant speed - again described as a normal trait of this engine. It only lasts for about 2 seconds, but what a pain !

The embarrassing clouds of black smoke at totally odd moments makes our old 2.5 di look like a Toyota Prius clean machine !

I probably drive it too slowly in reality, as most of these versions will be thrashed to death, but fuel economy and longlife/lower running costs are major issues.

Having a brief drive in a new 140ps version shows I should have waited a bit and not had a 137 as I feel I have been one of the guinea pigs ! That's ok for a fleet operator to deal with, but not someone who has spent his life savings and then some on a private vehicle for leisure.

Mine has the 4.27 ? diff as the convertor refused to specify the 3.77 as they said they had had issues with other vehicles (Fiat 2.8) that had too high gearing, causing warranty issues (Old people going into top gear too early !)

Sorry to drone on. But I love my van really. Do I ????

Yes the Black smoke thing is weird and is obviously some sort of software glich which Ford should sort, I can live with the clutch but if our EPA happen to send me a notice from one of there drive by particulate machines Mr Ford is going to get a bee in his bottom.........BIG TIME!!

I bought my 135/137 New in Jan 2006 Its now done 34 k so its Run in.

Yes the Clutch is Difficult to judge. One Minute its Rock Hard, the next its soft. It has Clutch Judder but they aint never going to change it under Warranty are they ?

The Jerking is Dam annoying its almost like a Missfire. Again i don't think they will do anything about it.

"Smoking" Plenty of that mainly when i lift off the Trottle.

Its also had a Exhaust Blow from Day one which they have never found yet  But there is now sooting on the Turbo to Manifold joint so that will help with the Diagnosis.

Though saying all this its a Blinder. I will say i was a little concerned with the Mpg to start 300 ish to a Tank but this has gone up to 420/450 and even 500  Once.

Irregular idling

Postby nr.6 » Fri Aug 25, 2006 10:20 pm

My van, 2004 125 TDCI fwd, has the same problems as described, be it idling is uneven in the warming up phase, when at normal working temp. idling is fine. Took it to the dealer's they told me nothing is wrong with it, no faults detected when comp. was plugged in. So I live with it, it only happens every now and then but is getting more frequent now. I use Shell V Power Diesel only, no other problems with it so far. Great van!
Done 35000kms. not a single ploblem apart from this minor point, but hey, nothing 's perfect. Had vans that fell apart after 4 years, Vito....!
I hoped I never had to mention that van again.......
Be seeing you !
