Not being smart or anything but how can you restore your brothers new mini when you had to get your dad to do the body work on your transit van. A lesson which we were taugh in college was to finish one project before taking on another. By the way how is your camper coming along as haven't seen many pics lately???

can't do any more body work as my dad as to go for an operation on his foot and he did put a drill though his hand so that as stop the vans body work till February i have all the body work done just paint left

I'm almost done the camper van part of the van project then back into the body work and then mini will start

Seen as your a mechanic and a coded flat plate welder why do you need your father to do all the body work on your van for you???

I'm a coded arc welder for sheet steel so mig is not my best skill but I'm learning it off my dad
I'm a mechanic on petrol engines not diesel i did a coarse in the north that lets you do one of the two so i picked petrol but i am going to be doing my apprenticeships here in Ireland to become a mechanic for all engine makes

Well it doesn't make since. I am a trainee mechanic at the moment and from my knowledge and research to which I have done I never heard such a course that you don't have to do an apprenticeship to become a qualified mechanic. There is also no such apprenticeship (or course to you) that only deals with one fuel element. Where in the north have you completed this course?? if there is such a place :? And if thats the case why am I wasting 4 years going through different phases with fas to become a qualified mechanic???

its a basic step into full time mechanic in a collage near Enniskillen it was a waste of time to be hosted i wish i didn't do it i should have done it with fas in the first place but I'm applying for the apprenticeship for next year so i can get the full deal oh i did the class well over 5 years ago

Fair play to you Tom, you will never be bored, most people who are into classics end up with a few restros on the go at once! if I had the space there would be more than just a transit on my drive.
whats the plans for the mini, original or customise?

Coming along well tom, I am sure the words were "Bigger" and a mini well i am not sure as price wise when done the mini will fetch more
Any way at the end of the day I know the forums are full of banter but there is no reason for insulting a members knowledge and education and I for one know practical trumps theory hands down so why is this smokeytransit member with a total of 3 posts having a pop at you Tom. My son went to collage for a body work and spraying course 12months then due to the lecturers screw ups they extended it to 24months then they closed the course as it was going to take 3 years to do in total so he ended up with nothing in writing yet he never missed a day or lost any paperwork.
collages chop and change there courses all the time yet it is the practical that is the important thing to master!

I'll let him off I'm not a person to get anger at little thing all i have from that coarse is a piece of paper that says i can fix petrol car only  what a waste of my time i don't even drive a petrol car any more

I got the mini for €950 only need a bit of welding i have add up the price of rebuilding it and buying it if i do a top job i could make €1,000 or more if i sold it but its not mine it my brother
Anyway I'm a tad bit to big to fit into a mini well i think I'm just over 6ft tall so i may just cut a hole in the roof right roof fixed
