Broken thermostat housing on Banana

Postby MattBlackMinibus » Thu Dec 09, 2010 2:42 pm

Decided to see if my engine's fitted with a thermostat today cos it don't warm up for miles.

Removed water pipe from housing.
Saw thermostat inside.

Housing looked like it might come apart in the middle by undoing the pipe fitting from right hand side,
so I tried, but it didn't. It looks glued.

Removed two 1/2" bolts to remove housing.
Still couldn't access thermostat, so bolted it back on.

Tried again to split the housing by undoing the pipe fitting from the right hand side,
and the housing broke at the bottom.

 Quality

I now have a major water leak. Brilliant.

SO...

Is it supposed to come apart in the middle to remove the thermostat?

Bleep bleep bleep bleep bleep F*%*&*!!!!!

Local bloke has been promising to let me know for days when he has the part for me.
I kept phoning/texting him and kept getting -

'yeah, i'll have it tomorrow/today for ya, me mates gonna drop it off at me yard for ya,
I'll text ya/ring ya when he/it turns up'.

Wish I'd got you to send me your one PSV

...BUT...

Looked on Google Maps for slavage in my areas, and found a breakers yard 20 minutes drive away.
Phoned them, and was told they've got loads of Transits and engines laying around
:!: :!:   8) 8)
Wicked :D

Went. Got housing (£15). Fitted it. Job done :D
