MOT and chipping in 2011

Postby spospe » Fri Dec 17, 2010 8:38 pm

Has anyone heard of the problems mentioned in this link and / or knows if it is true:

http://www.vxronline.co.uk/forum/showth ... p?t=113937

If true it would seem to pose a big problem for 'chippers' from 2011 onwards :(

How will they know?

We had 2 ford focus' done and they went for some warranty work at ford. Now they would have used it as an excuse not to do the work but they did the work so they obviously didn't notice.

It's all bullshit

Will I get a fail because Jay turned my fuel pump up and I turned it up even more  :?:

They will be failing cars next for having a radio in them..........

been talking about this on another forum and a few of them mentioned in that link and plain rubbish..hid kits will be checked but the ecu can only be checked if easily accesed without removing trim...and nearly every ecu is hidden behind a bit of trim... there is still a proposal for 4-2-2 testing end of 2012 by the backdoor so by the time its more public knowledge it will be a bit late..and i bet the mot test will go up soon.

4 years to first test on new cars then every 2 year thereafter
the most fooking stupid idea i've ever heard
seeing the state most cars come into my garage in for me to take em into the MOT, especialy as most modern cars now use soft thin (easyly snapped) springs with stiffer ARBs, i change a lot of springs come MOT time on customers cars, that and ARB drop links that are damaged by the stiffnes of modern ARBs
Fine if every car driver/owner was like us IE botherd about the cars condition, most aint and drive around in right P O Ss

A lot of people only ever get things fixed and serviced at mot time as well..Cant remember how many bald tyres i have changed on mot failures and blown bulbs which owners says has been out for quite some time..including no oil on dipstick as owner dont ever check it.
