I liked your van too Vandalism. It certainly has a lot of charm, and deserves to be restored. My project doesn't make much progress for the time being, but then I don't have any time limit either. :)

thanks for the nice comments - i dont have a time limit but i want it done (or atleast drivable on the road) as soon as possible - my dream would be to get it ready for the transit 50th birthday :lol: - isnt that in august somtime?

just a quick question - would an overdrive gearbox fit stright in my transit with its current engine or not??

there is difrent bellhouseing to fit difrent engines ,so even if you have the gearbox, you need the propshaft ,crossmeber and bellhoseing for v4/v6 or pinto or diesel :wink: so many people sell the gearbox on its own ,totaly useless without the complete kit! :wink:

the van im getting my parts off is complete but if i need all that i prob wont have time to get it off because ive got to get the front axel off and other bits and bobs - the gearbox was mated to a 3litre engine, dunno if its still there tho

unfortunatly the van im going to get bits off is in birmingham and im going at the weekend :lol: but thanks for the offer, it would have been easier with more people but u prob thought it was closer

p.s regarding an earlier question - im going to see my van next week as the welding has been don on it (pics soon) i will also get the info on wether the lights faild or not but i have a funny fealing the lights diddnt work anyway so couldnt be tested

i think you will have to mod them to rhd type like luke did, with the older fire van they uesed strange lamps ,as the newer one the lamps are changeable for the normal sealed beam type! :wink:

hello, got the axel and other parts - the axel was off a mk2 tipper aparently and has vented discs - the axel also had a svo anti roll bar but someone got there before me :evil:

front hub - i dont remember mk2 hubs having all the nuts in the middle, but i could be wrong

is there any way of telling if the axel is off a mk1 or 2 ?

dont think you could get mk3 with vented disks :? the bolts are there on them all :D
