Bluefin, DTUK Transit users test in the real world

Postby Two Transit Dave » Tue Aug 29, 2006 6:10 pm

Following my fuel consumption post I wondered if existing Transit owners with any of the above units would be interested in posting their fuel consumption results with and without the units. Before parting with any hard earned cash I am sure many owners like myself on this site would be interested in any real user results. From the various postings it is quite obvious that there is a significant difference in the vans performance but speaking personally I think that overall smooth running and more importantly those using their van to earn a living the improvement in fuel consumption and how long it would take to re-coup the outlay may be of more interest. Or does the improvement in performance bring out the white van man red mist and consumption go right out the window after the first month. I am going to contact DTUK to see if I can purchase one for this test ( I have contacted them before about their units) and if the results are not up to the opposition then hopefully I will get my money back. I think we need to establish the weight of loads generally carried, roof racks, air-con, motorway and town driving into the tests if practical.
Hopefully this will be of enough interest to get some replies.

The best ive had out of of my Jumbo Transit 125bhp 2003 was 809km, unloaded, no roof rack, kept just below 3000rpm. This was on ARAL Ultimate diesel.
From Hannover to Calais its about 650km, can reach it loaded on just below 3/4 of a tank. 80 litre tank can squeeze about 82litres in.
Hope this helps.

Kilometres to miles.... divide by 8 multiply by 5 so 800 k will be 500 miles

I have contacted DTUK today and the return policy is 14 days this should give me enough time to try it with two tankfulls so I will see if I can achieve better than 27.7 mpg over a 8-900 mile test I will purchase the unit early next week and start my trial of the unit.

Yes i get the touqe steer aswell but i quite enjoy it.

Feels like your having to drive it, if you know what i mean.

You can do it yourself very easy!

It only takes a few minuites and you dont even get dirty or need any tools.

The bluefin is connected under your dashboard and the information is swaped over to your vehicle, saving your vehicle information for later changing back when selling etc.

Not sure if it is available for the 75 ps but would imagine it would be.

Cost you about 450 to 500 though.
