I'm looking to add another 2 seats behind the 2 passenger seats In my 05 transit & have a window fitted in the sliding door.
Just wondered what's the best way to go about it?
Buy it all off eBay or scrapyard & fit it myself.
Or does it have to be fitted by a garage, I'm sure I heard or read somewhere you need a installation certificate for your insurance?
At the moment it's all plylined so I can't see underneath the ply till I take it out but are the holes already there to take the bolts for the seats etc.. or will these need drilling out?
And the door, would probably be easier to buy a door with the window already in & do a straight swop?
Also if I need to get it done at a garage for insurance reasons anyone know somewhere near Wolverhampton that would do it?

We provide a company with steel work to allow the fitting of rear seats, they had it all crash tested and cannot change the spec without further crash teasting, it's basically a load of channel (folded) with rivnuts in that fits the whole rear floor area (though only a couple of seats are used, sort of a utily/wash vehicle), it lifts the whole floor almost 2"!!!!...

I think you'd be better with some plates under the floor

You'll be lucky to get insurance as you have modified it,I have an Transit Tourneo and when I removed the back set of seats when telling the insurance companys about this on a renewal phone around they would not touch me saying that I had modified it,most insurance company's are complete a***holes and I wish you the best of luck,but might be worth checking first just to see what your premium would be it might just change your mind.......

Insurance said they'd only insure me if it's professional fitted, also they said i'll need a certificate.
And it'll be an extra £100ish to insure with 2 extra seats.

Having it done next week anyway,
Double thickness floor, surface mounted rails, 2 removable seats & tinted side window on loading door. 

I'll ply it all out when I get it back.
Then it'll be a dual purpose family carrier/plasterers van.

I'd loved to have done it all myself to be honest,
but were booked on the ferry in 27 days, 4 of us in the van.
so needed to get it done asap

Plus insurance said they wouldn't touch it if i did it!

Dare I askhow much they're charging?
Will have same issue shortly unless it's registered as a camper already, wnt know til V5 comes back. Not sure it is meaning I'll need pro job.

We get vans done occasionally here in N.ireland for our firm and local seating firm charge anywhere from £200 for a double seat and upwards for three,s and four,s. It,s £100 for refitting any seats from an old van to a new one and it has to be their seat they sold to you originally plus certificate for insurance company, unfortunately there is no other way around it except to fit your own bs stamped seat iirc and get an engineer (after he is happy with installation) to issue you a certificate which your insurance company should accept but might not. Insurance companys are a pain in the hole these days as regarding this
