Monty`s Mk1 Camper

Postby montym100 » Mon Jun 13, 2011 5:47 pm

Well she`s on my drive, did 140 mile to get her home and she drove great . Not bad for the old Girl from 1968

Not planning to do to much at the moment but plan on redoing the interior and layout and in years to come will be a front axle swap as she`s on drums  and maybe an engine swap/conversion, maybe a 2ltr V4 :?

I certainly will, the back end has started to peel and some rust has come through but the previous owner really looked after it well. Never had any welding

Thanks guys.

Need to get my head round how to do the rewire when i come to redo the interior and to have the auxiliary battery on a split charge. I`ll be on the lookout for Stove, fridge and sink.

Gorgeous :D Make sure you get a comfy deck chair so you can sit back and look at it when you're camping 8)

My old Jennings 130 twin wheeler had drums all round, once i treated it to new shoes and cylinders and adjusted them correctly they were spot on, but you have to make sure the manual adjusters are set regularly.

If it aint broke dont fix it.

I`ve not own a Transit before so need to get my head around Brakes etc, just haven`t got the time at the moment and i`m dying to get her out for a weee run

BTW, where do you guys buy your Mk1 Brake shoes and other service parts from?

Also noticed some oil on the drive and when i was looking at the van could see wet patch on gearbox and rear Diff so need to look in to seals and what oils to use.
