Transit 2.5 Turbo Diesel diagnose plug

Hi,
I have a Transit 2.5 Turbo Diesel camper build 1993 and I'm looking for information about it's diagnose plug.
The only connector I found in the engine compartment was that:



Is that the right one ? As far as I can see there are three pins, does anybody know the connector pin assignment ? What protocol is used for the data transfer, is it perhaps a simple serial protocol, which could be read by a simple serial interface and a terminal program ?

that does look like a diagnostic plug - my mk5 has one there and as far as I have been able to work out its for ABS. I thought the mk4 socket was in/around the glovebox area?

If you PM Frag he will tell you how to read the codes using a paperclip! (this does not work for Mk5 turbos before anyone asks...)

Do you mean these plugs, which are located under the glove box ?
What are they for ?

The 2 pin is for the Ford fds2000 tester you used to have to fit a inline adapter, the 3 pin was for a star tester cant remember which one the Lucas tester used

Sure lucas uses 3 pin

Anyone know the pinouts & whether IDS can work on these or its just FDS or Lucas 2000 ? its for Robbies BOA/BOB Cosworthed MK3 & it uses a 3 pin connector which I assume is like the one on these vans ! ?

I have laser 2000 and a sykes pickavant code reader which should both work on robbies van...

Yeah And btw my 'diag port' is a 16amp industrial iec connector cos I had no socket and had lots of said plugs and sockets to match! Kept orig plug on code reader, happy to extend wires etc as its only earth and 2 data wires... but....
queation is, forgwt the 60pin ecu plug which has diag wires in... why is there a cover on REAR of ecu that has some sort of pcb connector bit like a pci card fpr a pc but Smaller!?
