Just an update to keep all those interested correctly informed.
The engine featured above is due to be installed in my customer's Mk4 truck this weekend and he has consented to have pictures of the conversion posted on here to assist other members
There seems to be some confusion as to the different parts required to complete the pinto conversion for differing Mk's of Transits.
Mk2 Transits require, amongst other parts, engine mounting brackets (Transit specific). The exhaust manifold appears to be similar, if not the same, as the type used on early pinto engined cars, single down-pipe type. You will need top and bottom hoses, not sure if these are still available from Fords. The Mk2 pinto engine I have here has a gearbox adapter plate and a Transit specific flywheel used to connect it to the four speed box, neither of these parts are available from Fords. I have the above parts if any of you are 'short' or wish to have a pinto fitted in a Mk2.
Mk3 Transits require, when fitting pinto to mt75 box, amongst other parts;
Engine mounting brackets (Transit specific), no longer available from Fords.
Exhaust manifold (Transit specific), no longer available from Fords.
Flywheel (Transit specific), no longer available from Fords.
Engine adapter plate, no longer available from Fords.
Later pinto thermostat housing, the one with the small bore return pipe, Ford part, available
Top and bottom hoses
If your van is fitted with power steering, you will need a 'twin' front pulley, (Transit specific).
Again, we have the above parts if any of you are in need, including modified di power steering pump brackets to enable the standard di power steering pump to be mounted onto the pinto block.
Mk4, much as above, again, most parts available.
Mk5, much as above but special engine mounting brackets are required, we manufacture these and can supply them along with any other major parts required to complete your pinto conversion.
We are also interested in acquiring any pinto conversion parts that you members may have kicking around, better that these parts be saved and used for others wishing to go down the engine conversion route than melted down to make Mk8's
