Well a little update... 'IVE DONE SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE'

A little oil had been showing after the bus had been parked up for some time, ignored it but kept on top of the oil level!
I didnt worry to much as i wasnt loosing much oil and i couldnt see were the oil was coming from... UNTILL oil spotted on exhaust then i thought thats the little bugger



So after an hour or so this came off in 2 parts, i think there was a split in the rear nearside corner allowing oil to run down the back of the head onto EVERYTHING else (aint gonna rust much this winter )

2 hours with the spanners and rags
£15 or so for the gaskit
Done

I also took the liberty of measuring the EGR valve assembly and the flange face that mates to the banana manifold, im thinking of doing something around here as i can up the inlet tract from 63 ish to 75mm

i think this has cured the leak! ( were is the wood ) but still to take a gander at the ball joint and bearing for the MOT hoping i can collect them tomorrow, i'll let ya know how much!

£35.89 all in! QH boxed parts. that will do for me, but when the bod behind the counter said seems a bit small for a van! .... im wondering if its the correct part tomorrow will tell fingers crossed

HAPPY DAYS... ball joint and wheel bearing took 1pm till 5pm on sunday with a smoke break but i spent half the time with 2 thiefin kids around and a bucket of grease... (all you dads know what im talking about
ive never been a mechanic and i dont claim to be confident with spanners (scares the sh*ts outta me tbh) but its the only thing i do with my wagons atm ... just to keep them alive (COUGH and save a £)

and i wont buy QH again!... i ran a tap through the top section of arm to allow the bolts to pass through it without ruining the thread on the bolts.... i TAPPED and banged and twisted, the only thing i wanted was a podger and thats at work, dont know why they didnt line up, i do thats due to holes being drilled at wrong angle in new BJ or OLD BJ ... im not fussy but as long as the BJ beds in properly im not fussed... if we end up in the same situation next year, well, at least i be prepaired!
Dust cover was a bit of a conundrum but with some rootlin' she came out tidy.... im SO GLAD ive a HD vice and a fly press in the shed, gives me more confidence in the re-assembly as everythings pushed down snugg

i wonder if QH do a fuel filter for the mk5 CAUSE I WONT BUY ONE

and as it turns out, every thing seems fine which is nice, so the bus is ready for the MOT which ill get done in the next couple of weeks, ive alaso got a second hand grill surround that with a little love, self tappers and some aly sheet on rear to strengthener it up a tad, will then get some blue on it and be putt on ...havent come across many that havent cracked also see plenty with the underlight section missing sure ford know how to keep the punters coming back but thats a post for the concspirecy theorists

there is some cracking dayvans on the forum and it makes me V but my bus has to be multi-purpose and cover many bases, 6' logs and big sound systems dont go together to well in my book
SORRY old gal but my harts been swaying towards a mk2 wondering how many of the mk5 bits will swop over and how much work is involved ... i think after crimbo i should start looking for a mk2 crew cab project

mk2 lwb crewbus with 2.5 di that will be a pain in the ass im sure but worth the blood sweat and tears.....

MInes cracked both sides under the headlights, have got a new one and bumper to go on it after ive done the wings

Well I was going to put the bumper and grill on, then I poked the wing and my finger went straight through it! So definitely wings and front arch repairs first.
