Rear Disc Conversion

The conversion was a 100% success. Pictures being uploaded tonight.

Well I have to say that was the easiest conversion ever.
It took an hour to install both sides.

Remove the ABS sensor and brake pipe.



Remove the brake drum and shoe assembly.



Remove the stub axle and back plate.



Install the new back plate and stub axle.



Install the brake disc (until matching drilled and grooved arrive) and caliper with new pads.




Remove the old handbrake cable and install new one.



Bleed brakes using Vale's high tech bleeder. (Note - he wet himself in excitement)



The finished result.



And there you have it!!!! Total cost with parts £160.00

Where do I find the calipers mate... Just off a 110?

Yes jack.

You will need the stub axles/hubs aswell,as they are different.
The ones for calipers have 2 extra holes.
The brake hoses fit from your drums but you do also have to change the handbrake cables


Me and gk went in halfs for a complete axle from a 2010 connect with disc brakes.

I may be able to get you brand new calipers as I have an account with a brake specialist as you already know. It's the same bloke who does the discs.

No because gk has abs.

But I don't think u have to no

think he means he doesnt have abs so has a load sensor

gk has abs so no load sensor fitted,the disc brakes came from a van with abs.so it was just a case of working out what parts (pipes,cables etc) will and wont fit from the drums
and just bolt it all together.

Sorry, crap answer. My van has no ABS but does have a load sensing valve (53plate 75ps) Thats my concern about doing an axle flip,Would you have room between the axle and body to reposition the valve. Ive no intention of fitting discs (Only 75ps) but just thinking if you did have a LSV and fitted discs would you have any problems. By that I mean if the calipers need less volume of brake fluid to apply brakes than the cylinders would the rear wheels lock up under normal braking before the front ones started to brake.
