Had my first dose of non starting this weekend, been turning over really slow so i cleaned the battery terminals and it cured it .....till this morning and the damn thing did it again, checked the battery and all was fine cleaned starter motor terminals and it started will see what the bugger does in the morning

What is the control on a tranny fitted with this? ie what makes it 'burn' prior to/or with cranking??

I'll be ordering one of these I think. I have the wiring diagram for the landrover glowplug relay which looking at it, should do the job. Will let you all know.

I might see about fitting one to my Transit.....

not because it has difficulty starting in cold weather, but I like things like the thermostarts


as for the leak off mod, I did mine due to it airlocking slightly....

I basically put an inline connector, and ran the leak off to injector no1.
I have the same manifolds as Kinty's....

the leak off runs up from injector 1, and is secured to the threaded hole (next to the thermostart location), and then up with the breather pipes, and finally down to the standard leak off pipe.....

thats the other reason I might fit one to mine :p

what I'll probably do, is fit a small inline storage tank that the return runs through, and feed the thermostart off that

I'm not sure how Ford systems were plumbed in?

I think they had a small catchtank. Minormatt may know. I'll probobly go with the coil of pipe approach.

The ford system only kicked in when cranking (as far as I know) and fed out of the fuel filter housing (that blanking bolt on the top)

My grandfather used to make steam engines and bashed out dozens of little brass tanks, one of them would be ace, not sure he'll be able to help now unfortunately. I will have a look at that bolt on the filter housing at some point. Would this be what my mystery sensor is for Matt?

No, thats for a solenoid that goes on the side of the injection pump which increases the fuelling for cold starts... but your pump hasn't got that, so ignore the sensor!

Thats good, its in the parts bucket and I'd be irritated about bolting it back on

yes, I was thinking of a small brass Mamod style boiler

small brass tank with 2 hose barbs (for the return line), and a fitting for the thermostart off the bottom
