mkII 5 speed gearbox

hi all, can i fit a 5 speed box onto my (currently) 4 speed 2L pinto engined mkII swb campervan if so which one thanks.

The cast iron older type 5-speed will go in the space for the 4-speed, but you will need the crossmember and they are getting rarer.. The later MT75 is far more relyable, you will agin need the crossmember and to cut the floor and change the front end of the prop. The OD box bolts straight up, but you have to be aware of the gearing and get the right one to suit your van (we fitted one in a luton and it was absolutley pants and had to remove it)

Basically Yes!

For either box you will need to:-
1. alter the propshaft
2. modyfy the floor where the gear stick comes through
3. use the crossmember that comes with new gearbox

one final point that fred didn't mention does your 2.0 pinto have an adapter plate fitted? if not you will need one!!

Not sure if the flywheel was changed, as I have never had to get an adapter plate. Either that or it bolts straight up

yeah good point if you have an adapter plate you dont need to change flywheel if you dont you do!!!

Like Luke said, a Mk3 with a 2L + 5 speed, don't forget to get the front or all of the propshaft. If you look closely at the rubber mat near the gear leaver, there is a 'cut here' line which is actually for the LHD postition! . The crossmember just bolts straight up. You will find the 2L will scream far less on the motorway!

Yep, that should do, and if the seats are what I think they are, they are a plus! We have them in one of ours, and they are very durable and comfy! I wonder if the 'aske a seller a question' asker is Gail from this forum/cortina owners? 57 mins left! get to it if I were you, is it nearby?

no its oxford im grimsby miles away but very cheap i might give it a miss and check the scrappy\breakers first saw a 76000 g reg 3.0 v6 minibus go for 51 quid recently so 1 should come up again soon.

its quite possible as she was after a mk3 tranny the other week but bought a P100 instead! i'll ask her later.
