MODDING THE MK1 V4 GEARBOX

HELLO HOW IS EVERYBODY,DO'ES ANY ONE KNOW WHAT OVERDRIVE/5 SPEED BOX WILL GO ON A 2L V4 ENGINE,DO YOU NEED AN ADAPTER PLATE,PROP SHAFT MODS ETC ETC.THANKS PAUL.

paul ,you could fit a overdrive box ,have alook in the how to section as this has been done by baconsdozen !

Hi Sirri,

I had planned to fit an overdrive before my vacation, but did not manage to get it in before... I have collected a few items like the gear box, crossmember, propshaft, gear stick, etc. Bit am not sure, what other problems might come up. I would be grateful for detailed information if you come accross any problems, which you will most likely. None that cannot be solved however...

hello rudolph,nice to here from you,after reading the technical pages on the site about fitting o/d gearboxes,i think i'll give it a miss and stick to the standard 4 speed box......it all seems all a little bit to technical for me.be lucky paul. IM A CELLRAT

i will let you know hopefully in a few weeks but i am going v6 engine as well! this should give me the towing power i need ! but looks like could be a diesel front !
