Okay - time for the painful surgery. Rust in most of the usual places but very little underneath thank goodness.

Good thing is that pretty much all MK3 panels are still available new.

It is in remarkably good condition for its age. Will post some more photos in due course.

Genuine MK3 wings are starting to get really hard to find recently and I noticed that even the pattern ones are a few and far between. Too many people settling for MK5 wings instead. :(

Oooo, Oooo! Can you get any pictures of the headlight motors, espeacially the way they fit to the headlight support panel. It will help a couple of us who are sourcing parts & fitting them. Ive got the dash switch, but not the motors yet

I will pop over and see what can be done re pics of motors. My man (bodyshop employee doing it on the side!) has an after market source for panels and says he was impressed with what was available. He has sourced 3 x doors, arches and sills on both sides. front panel under front bumper and under back bumper, plus a few other bits and pieces. He assures me this van will be rust free when he is finished!

Van is missing the SVO fog light units (that fit into the bumper) - anybody got any idea where I can source something suitable?

Hope you don't mind me saying, but make sure he gets MK3 ones and not MK5 ones, it would be a shame now the MK3 is so hard to find and we could be on the cusp of 'Modern Classic' status 8)

Your the second person to ask me about the under bumper lamps (SVO.7520 is the full kit with wiring, brackets, bumper etc) this week, they do turn up on ebay every so often secondhand, look out for fire/Ambulance/Police van/buses on there  Might be worth asking at Fords to see if they are still available, AndyG might know? Have you still got the brackets wiring etc.?

Ive got this image from the microcat of the levelling motors, but Ive seen 2 different arrangments

The panels are definitely labelled Mk3 - I went through his catalogue with him and they are all marked Mk3. He says the non Mk3 one's are slightly different and don't fit correctly (need adjusting). He has sent some back because they weren't correct!

Thanks for the info on the lights - I actually bid on flea bay for a camper that had all the goodies but I couldn't afford to outbid the winner :( ... it might yet appear here!

Just had a new wing fitted (Mk3 not Mk5 pattern). My body man says they are made in Tiawan and are better quality (thicker steel - perfect fit) than the originals!

Getting more expensive! Found that a previous owner (Billy The Bodger) had repaired one of the rear panels with a bin bag and covered it in fibreglass and then filled and painted!

You couldn't make it up!
Looking good now though - offside should be ready for priming by end of the day

Hi Colin
Great following the progress and looking forward to seeing this finished should be very nice indeed.

To go to all the effort of bodging that panel it would have probably been easier to do what you have done and fit new metal!

I think the panel cost about £25 + welding! The bodging was a masterpiece and must have taken days to get right
Going over on Friday to check progress and see if he has found any other classic repairs on the other side!

Hoping to be back on the road with new bodywork and respray by the end of the month - going for 'Stealth Grey' with a mica fleck!
