Yellow and green MK1

Postby MarkM » Wed Nov 22, 2006 12:56 am

Yellow & Green MK1 in for some service at Essex Ford Rayleigh.

Wish I had had my camera with me as other members would not believe the condition...gleaming like it had just left the showroom. It was sign written C something electricals I think it was, it must be a known van if not a member of here. Oh and it was an Old C plate.

 C plate?? Are you sure it wasn't part of the Ford heritage fleet?

I have no idea, seriously bright yellow and gleaming chrome rear corner caps and definately an old C plate, sliding drivers door too. It was in the workshop but they have just rebuilt it so you can see into it from the car park so that was why I saw it, I had to order a new air intake valve pipe, I have to collect it from tomorrow onwards so I will make sure I have my camera as it might still be there.

it does sound like the GEC van from the collection. That's yellow and black though

That might be it I said C something electrical, might well have got it backwards, definately was yellow and the lights in the new workshop are very bright so it looked green. The wheels were black with shiney chrome hubcaps (sorry to rub that bit in, as I have seen your other posts ;))

Have you got a picture of this van you mention, I doubt there are more than one still around.

True but GEC is General Electric Company, so it was a freudian slip on my part I knew GEC was to do with electrics so transposed the word electric onto the sign writing and the colour is definately off on Andy's pic. I am about to go get my part now so if the van is still there I will ask if I can take some pictures.

Perhaps it was the lighting in the museum :?:

Check out the other colours :!:

Indicators are correct :D

There's a lovely wedge in the backround and the colour's correct on that one too :!: (last of the lit grill badges 8) )

Ok been back today and the service manager was a bit of a dick as he wouldn't let me take any pictures in the workshop, It is indeed the Heritage Collection Transit but it is going to be displayed tomorrow for the official launch of the new building for Essex Ford.
They also have a new GT40 in the showroom plus a few classics already outside, but due to value the Transit and the GT40 they are inside so I was 'allowed' to take pictures of the others but the Transit only through the wondow of the workshop...hence the quality of the picture, nothing wrong with my camera as you can see by the other pics, wasn't interested in the GT40 as that is new not the original ;)

So if you get yourself along to Essex Ford Rayliegh tomorrow you will be able to get up close though I doubt the Transit will be outside as it is pissing down right now and the forcast is the same for tomorrow
