People will be less likely to give 'em a break as well, which'll lead to many incredibly pissed off van drivers probably. Trucks get leeway 'cos they're huge and hard to drive, but I can bet these bigger vans will end up boxed in for hours.

Doesn't this make them actually slower than buses, they do 65mph don't they?

a couple of 7.5t i drive are already limited supposedly to 60mph but in real speed on my sat nav its 52mph and it make me look like a banker when driving cos the big boys go to take me on a slight downhill they creep buy then on the uphill my toy truck is less weight so end up creeping back up leaving them stuck in the middle normally im polite slow up and flash em in told the boss to fit stickers on em to say limmited which he has there o6 plate iveco 7.5t curtains whith digi tacho too must admit tho we used to have a k reg 7.5t iveco flatbed with the six cyl 180 engine in and that was stooopid quick for a 7.5t would go off the clock so i agree with maybe 65/70 limiters on or up 7.5t but smaller vans c mon we got to work to many long and hard hours in this over taxed hell hole as it is i enjoy getting rep man to pull over

Am I getting the jist of this.... My transit is a 280, thats a gvw of 2800kg? So , that means I will not have to have a restricter? But being a Lwb High roof mk6 I will probably get quite a few tugs to check me out?

no if you work it out there isnt many transits plated over 3.5 ton,apart from our local police one that will be intresting thats a 430 but i am shure it wont have a limiter fitted!
speed limiters are bloody frustrating thats for shure,i think there is more accidents because of them rather than when we never had them! sometimes i have been overtakeing another lorry and we are still battleing it out 20miles later
i dont do this if somebody is strugling to get by me i will back off and let them in!
and some poxy car drivers do it as well they sit up the inside of you at the same speed and hold you out there thinking they are clever ,mind you when me indicator comes on there brakes work well coz i am comeing over brother!
and in all our lorrys when i have took the satnav with me they show 53-54!

Sort of on the same gist, been hearing bad stuff on the news earlier, that recurring noise about "charging per mile". There was talk of an "extra £28billion a year possible" from it! :evil::evil:. The b*stards are gonna try this out, I just know it! :!:

I remember when we decided to boycot the forecort pump only for a day, (just to make a point) and there was still scabs going in to fill up

So it looks like we don't care

And I hate all these cameras constantly filming me and I'm sure others are with me on this

But nobody wants to stand together

Having 'worked' on the A1m for 10 years in my previous life I have to say that the 56mph limit created more danger than it solved.

Prior to the limiters being fitted you had lorries averaging about 60 - 62, and driving quite sensibly, overtaking each other generally with ease.

After the introduction of the limiters, we have two problems:

1) Lorries sitting alongside each other for 8 miles at a time, one in lane one doing 56mph, one in lane two doing 56.000000000000002 miles per hour, and neither will give up.

2) Much more severe tailgating. If you're in lane 1 travelling at 50 - 60, you will now get lorry drivers sitting 6 feet behind you for mile after mile, and when they eventually manage to get enough speed up to pass you, they will then pull in front leaving 6 feet to spare, causing you to have to slow down if you want a decent gap. Gone are the days when they could just overtake you and fxxk off into the sunset.

Unfortunately the restriction has caused many lorry drivers to become much less considerate as they struggle to keep up their momentom.
