How do you work that out?

If you go on body shapes alone, there have been only 4.

If you count the 'facelifts' of the first two, that would make 4, then the Mk3, up to 5 now, then the New Gen, that's 6, then the current (that have probably had new bits of trim, headlights or whatever to give you a whole range of further 'Mks', not that I have been paying attention.) That's at least 7.

So which is right? Somebody ask Fords and settle this before I loose the will to live!!

No come on, how DO you arrive at Mk6? :? I listed what I think, but there doesn't seen to be any reason to get up to Mk6, more like past Mk6 if anything, or stick strictly to body shapes and you get 4! :)

Nah! What I said is the basic BODY shapes. The wings are basically the same shape, despite having different shaped holes in them. If you stand back and look at the van's profile, not much changed. E.G. ALL Mk1s were the same shape, though had some slight changes in 71 to the indicators and grill. The Mk2 again was basically the same shape, though had a facelift in 84. Even the Mk3 didn't change it's basic shape, even though Ford called it the New Generation somewhere in the mid 90s. Otherwise, when I go to get one of the wings you sell, if I asked for a Mk2, I would get a wing for a van registered between 1971 and 1978, something a completely different shape.

Lets awaken the dead here on this topic, so what model is my tranny, what I do know according to the DVLA documents is its a 2,4 90ps I beleive and its a rear wheeel drive on a X reg plate with a leaking fuel injector pump at the moment, though I must stress that I am not using the tranny until the pump is fitted here's the link http://www.bikepics.com/pictures/452276/ and yes I know its not a tranny but here's my bike http://www.bikepics.com/pictures/437140/

If it was that important to me (and believe me, it isn't, though it might one day be to some if any of the chip-riddled transits of today make it to 20), I would put a link to my original thread where somebody reproduced a piece from a Ford in house mag that said there were only FOUR transits to date.
