2007 Mk7 appears broken into with no damage

Postby alzee20 » Sun Jul 01, 2012 9:38 pm

Lol, when I had mk5's they all had a spare key cable tied underneath.. Saved money on windows!
Every few months my mate would ring up an ask which one to pop this time :)

Good thinking! Il order one off ebay tomorrow and look for a good hiding place in the engine bay. Could do with crappy jump leads in there somewhere aswell is I can find room  Cheers for that

I may be wrong but can i suggest when you do get the 2nd fob to use it from time to time to keep it in sync and charged.

I just found the original second fob that I got with the van buried under the sink. It didnt work when I got it and it knackered looking. Anyway I just re-synced the two of them together there so its working. Id say the second one was out because of low battery so Im gonna pick up two batteries tomorrow and re sync and hide one. Il just re-sync every couple of months to keep them both working. cheers

Result!
I thought they went out of sync because they use rolling codes and eventually the spare 1 goes out of range?

oh, that sounds like it makes sense. Il just use the one under the bonnet once a month so. I cant change between the two because the loop for the keyring is broken off the bandy one. Ah well, at least I dont have to fork out 30 quid for new :D

Heres what I did to bypass loom problem. Il rerouted it inside the rear pillar to take away any risk. I also removed the locking mechanism.

Can someone Pm me why I need to disconnect the drivers locking barrel from the mechanism. Have a rough Idea but only have 1 fob so not sure if its worth the risk of getting locked out, cheers

This happened to me last night and I know I locked it.
Now I'm looking at a disciplinary from work for equipment stolen because "I left the van unlocked".
Any advice greatly appreciated.

If you have the blue key fob like I have on my Mk7, then you cant change the batteries, its a sealed unit. The battery inside charges when it is used and charges while the key is in the ignition
