Hi
Yea that's mine pre facelift. The part I was asking about is the air intake you mentioned you would be adding.
Then you have pic on link. One of last photos.
Is this part necessary. Does it connect to any existing mk6 air intake.

stephenferguson wrote:I have been modifying the headlight connections over from the mk6 loom to mk7 headlight, part of the front end conversion. There was two little faults, one being the headlight leveling didnt work and the second (not really being a fault just me being particular) being the indicators on the mk6's have a separate plug for the indicators.

To sort the headlight leveling, it was a simple case of moving one of the earths in the plug from pin 1 to 5. This gives the headlight leveling motor its earth to work.

To sort the indicators so that they work from the main plug, I cut the plug off the harness, loose the black (earth) and tape/tuck it away into the harness, then extend the +ve wire, tape it into the loom so its nice and neat and push it into pin 1 on the main headlight connector.

Hi
I'm amazed at the amount of information you are supplying regarding conversion
I have been thinking and asking these things for months before I started my upgrade.
Mines in paint shop but I know these little things are going to need to be addressed.
So were above you say regarding self levelling and indicators in mk7. Are your mods to the mk6 plug ? Does moving earth to pin 1 not leave another bulb unearthed ?? Or did you take a spur-feed from it and does the cut plug indicator earth become unusable and you just relocate the + ?
cheers kev

All mods are to the mk6 harness plug.

There are two earths in the plug in total i think...

The +ve and -ve i cut were the indicator bulb wires on the harness its self as, on the mk6 headlight, the indicator bulbs have there own plug, where as on the mk7 headlight the indicator is fed from the main headlight plug

...if that makes sense.

Hi mate I've got most of the parts needed to do the conversion but lack the skills or anyone local to me to carry the work out.

I wondered whether you would take on doing the conversion for me and if you would how much would you charge / how long would it take.

Please pm me if your interested.

Thanks

Andy

Cant remeber how much daz but it is a square cut as the new cross member is a flat fit. It wasnt much of a cut, and inch or so on the inside, best thing is to measure off some factory holes in the chassis on a mk7

Yes theres no need to remove the screen, can be spot welded underneath, i only took out as it ha about 5 screens in before as my dad was a welder and kept on splattering screens, and the glue on top of glue hadnt sealed properly which had caused it to leak!

I just put the bumper on today and mounted the under bonnet parts correctly, so i'll get a pics added tomorrow.

hi stephen
i'm just about to start mine in the next couple of weeks and i have a couple of questions please

1 how much do you have to cut of the chassis
2 if my headlight units dont have the correct indicator fittings how do you modify
3 did you fit mk7 electric doors and how do you wire up the connections,my mk6 has not go electric windows

I'm getting my parts next week and hopefully i may then make a start and i'm sure there will be other questions as i go along!!! would you mind if I ask for info.
thanks
