Got the tee shirt mate.Changed the pump for a bosch pump from a 98-2000 smiley, the pump # has to end with 146.Changed accelerator and cable from same donor van.Changed injector pipes and changed fuel line pipes.Wired the solenoid to the ignition,so that got rid of all the electronics and that silly anti theft device. When started up it went like sh~t soi drove it to my local injector pump man who duly upped the fueling, not sure of the settings but it matched the pressure needed for the original blue colour injectors which i did not have to change. There was nothing done to the torbo.Driving now for over a week and i will never look back.Only a very slight difference power wise and that is on a long hill with 3.5ton up.Much more mpg and loads of low down pulling power, could stay in fifth all day

Opps ....forgot to mention the butterfly valve in the top of turbo needs to be wedged open. Mine drove like s#*t for a few days then took it back and they had forgot to open the butterfly valve. They pinned it fully open but eventually it worked loose......so i removed it altogether!
As you say performance is as good if not better and hills just dont seem to phase it one bit. The other thing i did was turn up the fueling on the pump and turn the tickover down (you have to do both) Ive got it turned up as much as i could without it blowing black smoke out the back. Just remember if you do turn up the fueling.......the pump is only rated to
bosch 4320 to 4560rpm
lucas cav 4280 to 4480rpm
Full load 4000rpm
I NEVER EVER drive it over 4000rpm. So if you do it, dont exceed these parameters coz she blow!
And just to add............mines given me approx 50,000 miles of trouble free motoring since doing these mods.
Glad you got it sorted mate! :D

No Tim, but would be interesting to maybe swap em, just to see how she drives then.

Re: Transit Turbo Diesel Injector Pump.help

Postby jiggymuscat » Fri Feb 25, 2011 11:16 pm

hi,i need to know some things and if anyone could help...i own a 92 lwb whit a 25td engine,i just bought 2 weeks ago and i noticed that was with the epic mode now its manual....they fitted a cav pump from a di engine non turbo,
i need to know if i am going to get problems with the cav pump since its not for turbo engine? im hearing engine making some rough noise when i rev suddenly by hand a noise like this grr grr and then ok,it runs very good but im worried, everyone tells me that that kind of engine works a little noisy, but i dont know coz its my first transit ive owned!!
another question is that when i start the van in morning smokes a bit white then after i rev a little the engine and its fine,so what do you think??
thanks in advance for any reply
