injector problems

Postby andyspoff » Sat Apr 13, 2013 7:41 pm

hi i have a ford transit connect 2003 1.8 tdci
over the last 2 years ive had on and off injector problems (running it limp mode then cutt out when under load) i had a number of changed injectors but obviously trying to do it on the cheap and haveing the same problem a month later could have been changing injectors for ones that were no better, so i decided to invest in x4 reconditioned ones. That cost me £400+ changed the fuel filter had it recoded etc and great managed to run 10 month or so fine (other than a lumpy warming up for first mile or so on a cold morning). Its started to happen again. The guys whom helped me fitt them stated the recon ones didnt look like ones theve seen direct from delphi before ie looked like they had been stripped cleaned new seals or whatever then put back together as appose to delphi's apparently comes back like new with new code stickers etc. Plus the leak off when we changed them was a big improvement from before but was noted that they should have been better for new.
so my question is do you suppose i simply have been duped and just had a long unlucky strech of dodgey injectors, or is this the sign of the dreaded apparently common theory of fuel pump breaking down blocking injectors? Is this theory actually common? how can you test.
Or could there possibly be other faults. I do also notice it cuts out the most when my fuel level is low
Another question is I'm now searching for a good deal on some injectors again but trying to buy new or from a delphi stockist (idealy not wanting to pay through the nose as it works out dearer than the vans worth or possibly a new engine) but can you use the same injectors as ive seen described i.e. focus / renault clio. Ive seen the delphi part number with one digit difference, does this make a difference ? for its still listed as it would fitt my van
thanks
andy

Quite a few inc me have used Diesel Bob ( http://www.dieselbob.co.uk/ ) with no problems. Had mine changed just over a year ago after having injector problem similar to you. Had no issues since but alway add a measure of Millers whenever I fill up.
