2007 Connect Key Fob Problems

Postby markieju » Wed Jul 03, 2013 12:01 am

Hi Folks, Hoping you can help me. I have a 2007 Transit Connect, which we've had from new. All of a sudden on Sunday the key fob stopped working, thinking it was probably the battery I have put a new one in, but it still won't work, i've tried the programming 0-8 times as suggested in the hand book - leaving the key in position 2 on the eigth go but when I try this it does not go in to programming mode/cycle, so the locks do not make any noise so to speak or go through the cycle. The key unlocks/locks all the doors and starts the van perfectly but just a pain that I can't use the key fob, any help please. Thank you, Mark.

Thanks for your reply, much appreciated. I do have a second key which came with the van from new, it didn't come with a key fob unfortunately, do I need to do something with both keys to be able to program the key fob??, thanks for your help!

Sounds like a problem with the central locking module,as you can start the van its not the chip in the key

Does the central locking work at all? Will still work if you use the key in the drivers lock.

Check fuses etc.
You only need 2 keys when programming the chip in a new key

Thanks for your help, yes, the central locking works perfectly on both keys and opens/closes all the doors & starts the van, it's just the key fob that has stopped working, i've fitted a new battery, tried the 0-8 times programming (which I can't get it to do)

get your remote tested to see if it's sending an RF signal, i do keys for a living & have an RF tester & don't mind testing it if you're in the area or if i'm near your area while i'm out & about as i get all over the country

To program a remote central locking fob

1. Close all the doors.
2. Turn Ignition key from position 0 to II eight times within 10 seconds.
3. Locks will cycle (locks then unlocks the doors.)
4. Press the button on the remote fob / 3 button key within 20 seconds, the locks will cycle again (locks then unlocks)
7. Turn the ignition key to position 0 to exit the programming mode.

Note: Maximum 4 remote fobs/keys may be programmed.

I've just had the same problem. Working one day, nothing the next. The operation of the fob has been getting a bit erratic so I thought it was the battery dying in the fob but it checked out ok on the meter.
I have just done the re - programming thing as stated above and now it works fine.
Thanks for that.

are all doors shut? on the 8th time of turning ignition on you leave it in on position & then all the doors with lock then unlock, once it's done that you then press button on remote. All door locks will cycle again. If you're just doing the 1 remote just turn ignition off to end programming mode
