Body Control Module Problems

Postby Zippy2012 » Tue Nov 05, 2013 11:21 pm

Picked up my 63 plate Custom 155 Limited DCiV on the 25 Sept,- Great van , really enjoyed driving it for the 900 miles I did until on the 21 Oct it when in to the local dealer for the 'drive away locking' to be enabled and it has been there since with a problem with the Body Control Module. The Service Manager told me today that it is a major problem which Ford are working on trying to find a Software and Hardware fix but there is no date announced as yet - wondering if any one else has had any experience of this?

BCM, basically it's a box of relays and fuses that connects the ECU to all your electrical motors and lamps. Most of the loom ends up there, including central locking. It has its own microprocessor and is another item that is only compatible on that vehicle as it syncs with the ecu and carries the vin number.

Yeh I'd say, ecu and bcm are the brains of the whole outfit  Ok it's a pain and annoying on a new vehicle but that's the joy of having a van in warrenty 8)

I thought you could set the 'drive away locking' on the Custom yourself like you can with the Mercs ?

Off topic but the vectra c has had this system for 10 years in fact the vectra has 7 control modules and if on doesn't work the rest go into shut down mode

Which without the correct software you are peeing in the wind

Yes you can set them from the menu, once the feature has been enable
It should have been set up as standard but for some reason not on my van.
Not sure what the problem is but the van as been off the road for 2 1/2 week so far - really knocks the shine off having a new van :(
