MK1 Dimensions

Postby Bungle? Too » Sat Jul 14, 2007 8:57 pm

Where better to go for useful information than a transit forum?

Right folks....

I am trying to make a scale model of a Mk 1 transit from scratch, I have some plans... but no dimensions.

Can anyone let me know what the wheelbase dimensions of the different types of Mk1 transit are please?

(PS sorry if this is in the wrong group , but it seemed most appropriate)

Welcome to the forum. I think the measurements are in the front of the Haynes manyal, I can't find my copy of the Mk1 one at the moemnt but the dimensions are in the Mk2 one so I would have thought it's the same with the Mk1. If I find the Mk1 book I will post the dimensions for you.

Thanks... I have been searching for ages but just find references for LWB SWB etc for wheelbase or for the modern versions.

Cos it has more character than later marks

Its a present for a relative.... when he retires with signage on the side the same as his transit from 74.

and they don't make the recovery type he had

simple images here too.

I was planning on slightly smaller. I picked up a SIKU LWB MK1 minibus (beacuse it was the only LWB version I could find) which I was trying to figure out the scale on to convert.

I thought it was 1/55, but your dimensions have confirmed it as being 1/60

Thanks

the factory manual has line drawings for the purposes of chassis alignment etc so they are fully dimensioned.
I must get around to scanning them.
