MK7 Transit FWD 2.2 5 Speed Manual Gearbox Oil Capacity

Postby jakebutcher » Sun Aug 13, 2017 3:01 pm

Could someone please clarify the quanity of gearbox oil for the MK7 Transit FWD 2.2 Manual 5 Speed. I cannot find i definitive answer for the mk7 online- just the mk6.

Furthermore do the diff and gearbox have a unified oil supply?

Many thanks

According to the haynes manual. The 5 speed manual FWD is 2.15 litres. Oil specification- WSD-M2C200-C (Sold on ebay)

I hope this helps someone out. Cheers

The gearbox oil is supposed to be "sealed for life". I have wondered about changing mine but when to do it? £39 for 3 litres of oil, it must be very special so maybe it lasts forever:-)

Change it.

"Sealed for life" means about 2 years when the warranty runs out.

I just checked the level, it is fine, the oil however is a bit brown. So I will change it. The other thing is that it seems a bit thin for 75 - 90 SAE oil. Maybe that's the way synthetics are.

Right, off to the local Euro parts to be ripped off.

this means that the oil has broken down and lost most of his properties.

gearbox oil usually degrades after about 2~3 years tops.

That must be one of the easier jobs on a Transit, 1/2 hour. Took me longer to go and get the oil!

A bit of info Comma MVMTF Plus 75W-90 Ford WSD-M2C200-C, and lots of other specs. meets the requirements.

A major moan is that it is not pink, it looks like pee. I like pink, come on Comma, a bit of pink dye is cheap enough.

The old stuff, when it was in the bucket, was considerably discoloured, I am glad I changed it.

Now ready for the off to France and Spain, only five more sleeps :-)
