Sliding door actuator test

Postby johnkels » Sat Mar 31, 2018 1:51 pm

2008 2.4 rwd Side door does not lock from the fob, cleaned the terminals etc. still did not work so bought a new actuator fitted still does not operate. Put test on plug 1/2 showing 12.9 v. 1 / 6 showing 12.9 Could this be the new actuator ? Put a test across the terminals 6 /2 there is continuity. other combinations nothing. Is there a way of testing the actuator.

The actuator contains two motors.

One to lock or unlock normally and the other to deadlock.

To unlock the unit apply power to pin 2 while earthing both pin 1 and pin 6.

Now it gets a bit tricky as the ford wiring diagram contradicts itself.

Applying power to pin 1 while earthing pin 2 should lock the unit.

Applying power to pin 6 while earthing pin 2 should double lock the unit.

As I say the diagrams are contradictory so it might be pin 6 to lock and pin 1 to double lock :?
mk7 08reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD
mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small
