Interior lights not working

Postby Ashley S » Tue Mar 12, 2019 10:39 pm

Interior lights playing up.. changed to LED bulbs and ever since the front interior cab lights wont turn on when opening doors I know it's not a fuse if I play with the wires the lights flicker just can't find the problem. The lights inside the back aren't working either all I did was unplugged two wires to put a new bulb in and put the wires back on and now this has happened.. as this happened to anyone else?

If I press a button on this light

It works this one..

You can't use standard LED bulbs in the front cab lights, as the polarity is wrong. The only way is to solder-in a small LED board, which is what I've done.

If you get one of the little kits with an LED board and a bayonet fitting, you can insert the connectors the wrong way round no worries. Took me ages to figure out the reverse polarity problem.

The cheap LED boards have started to fail but works great if you get better quality LEDs

Check the integrity of the switches in the lights, they are very basic and fragile, and can lose connectivity quite easily. Make sure that you've replaced the front one in the front, and the rear one in the rear, because although they look the same, they're different. The rear one operates the load space lights as well as itself.

There are no switches in the roof.have you got all the plugs correctly orientated ? You can't go wrong with the front unit as its the light unit for the alarm system and the spades are at 90* to each other, also I'm wondering if they are switched through the bcm cos I have had a few vans that haven't been fitted with the trailer tow module and have overloaded the lights - and they would not work until the van was plugged in and the fault cleared by ids / forscan

I'm pressing buttons on both the lights in the front and there working different things.. like if I press the front interior light buttons it'll control the back front interior light.. all I did was taken off these two cables to put in a LED bulb took me 20 seconds and now this has all happened never seen anything like it before.. because this has happened the rear cargo lights inside the van aren't working.

^ These two cables is all I messed around with.. unplugged and plugged them back together and everything gone tits up.

Lights are now working on the wrong settings.
If I put the rear front interior light in the middle on the button slider it'll come on but if I slide it up and down it goes off.

Middle is normally off right?
If I open my van doors no lights come on etc, rear cargo lights still not working.
