2018 Transit AC Water Leak Driver Floorboard

Postby LowOnCash » Thu May 23, 2019 7:57 pm

Hello all - it appears as if my condensate drain for the AC is dumping in the cab rather than outside. I can run the AC for 30 minutes and there is no water coming from the hose on the firewall where the drain sticks out. Any idea how difficult it would be to remove the needed panels to get to the evaporator to see if the line is kinked or whatever?

Thanks In advance Mike

Lord,

You're right and it looks like its a real project. Part of the problem is the condensate drain tube is too short so when the water comes out it traces back to the firewall and drains back in the cab. I fixed this problem by using silicone to seal the whole opening.

I did find another source of my water leaks. it appears as if the windshield wiper housing for reasons unknown drains into the inner fenders, and there is no way for it to drain properly which was running into my floorboard. I'll try to attach some image so you can see my fix. I removed the water diverter and just added a hose on each drain to move the water directly to the ground.

Regards - Mike

This is the stock diverter dumping into the inner fended with insulation in the same location.

You can see just to the right in the fenderwhere he original drain was there is fiberglass insulation in the same compartment where it was dumping the water!

I ended up doing a few other improvements. If you look at the base of the windshield by the fender you'll see all the water that runs down the shield can run behind the panel so you'll want to silicon this so the water runs in the tray.

Also the fender well where the water was once diverted is still exposed so during heavy rains the tray could spill over, so I used some foil material and mad a cap for both the right and left openings.
