Immobiliser code 13 new key worked then stopped???

Postby AnarcoDave » Sun Nov 03, 2019 6:05 pm

Hi folks
As the subject says I have a mk6 Transit LWB 2.4 ... with immoiliser problems
Iv had the old girl for about a year and a bit, she doesn't have a hard life mostly the occasional run around with bits of furniture every few weeks. She realy is my pride and joy I love er! :D ...I plan to do a camper conversion on her at some point so it is definetly a project as opposed to a working vehicle ....

Anyway about a week ago the immobiliser stopped recognising the key all of a sudden I got the repeated flashing then a code 13. So I got a new key cut and programmed and that worked !! joy :D :D

.... went out to start her up the next day .... same problem with the new key

So now I guess it must be a fault with the transponder or ecu witch means a major hassle for me right?

At the end of the day I would if I could just bypass the whole immobiliser system I understand thats not the kind of info to publish on a public forum..... but it'd be a great option for me so if anybody can point me in the right direction Id be greatfull

Otherwise can anybody advice me of any other options?

I will not be giveing up on this van so whatever it takes... !

Thanks in advance
Dave

 Have you checked the receptor ring around the ignition barrel (which picks up the key signal) or the wiring to it :?:
Might be worth a look

Is the receptor ring programed to the ecu?

Really?.. I can't find a receptor ring that doesnt need to come as part of an ecu kit.
Are we talking about the same thing... The transceiver that receives the signal from the chip in the key?
As far as I can see if I can't solve this problem I will need to buy a new ecu, barrel, key and teansever ring replace all of them and then get the fuel pump coded to the new ecu.. I hope I'm wrong and if anybody has any suggestions...?

The ring is clipped onto the ignition barrel just behind the cover . The ring is not coded as such it just picks up the info from the key chip and transfers it to the ecu

So I can buy one off the shelf or take one from another van?

Has anyone heard off flat battery's cousin imobiliser to kick in?

Flash code 13 means there is no code received from the key, so the likelyhood is that the receiver isn't working, or the key is dud.
With any electrical gremlin, it's always worth making sure that the main battery is in good condition, and fully charged

OK back to square one...
I charged the battery originally for 5 hours put it back into the van and everything worked, van started fine no immobiliser.
So I went out and noticed a light on the dash(green back lights on clock and odometer) thinking aah! so I have a parasitic drain...

I took my battery out and charged it over night , went out this morning with what I believe is a fully charged battery

Note this battery is nearly new I got about 6 months ago brand new...

aaaand the immobiliser is doing the same thing as before
wont even kick the starter motor and flashes code 13

can anybody give me any advice?

Im getting the multi metter out as we speak but I dont really know what Im checkin for ...
I guess volotage from the battery ...

help!

Hi folks
After a PATS module initialization useing Forscan I seem to have solved the problem of the key's not being recognised but now the van trys to start but dies immediately like the feul pump isn't pumping.... Any suggestions?
Thanks
