18” alloys mk7 transit fitment

Postby Isupchap » Thu May 23, 2024 9:26 am

I’m looking to upgrade my 15”steel wheels to alloys.

I’ve seen some 18” alloys that I like at a decent(ish) price with tyres

My question is will the fit without rubbing in the wheel arches etc or is there mor to it than meets the eye?

I have an alloy fixing kit with the correct boots etc. I’m just worried the bigger wheels will rub in corners etc

Crystal ball time...... probably best ask the people selling the wheels, they may stick out past the arch then add ob arches required, the may rub on chassis when turning, depends on the offset of wheels on size of tyres if the seller doesn't know then will be trial and error

more to it than meets the eye?

Putting car tyres, low profile sidewall tyres can invalidate the van's insurance.
To comply with the van insurance you are likely to have to fit van tyres - the ones with the (reinforced side wall etc).

The speedometer may be driven from the gearbox or the ABS sensors the mph shown shall be different from 15" to 18" OD. Time distance travelled number of rotations.
A modern vehicle is likely to need the BCM/IPC configured for the different tyre OD.
