Good luck mate! All I can say is take your time and make sure you cut all the way round it! Try cutting from the inside with a long bladed knife.

Never bother doing it myself now, I did one once and made such a mess of the rubber.

The chap I call on for windscreens only charges 60 quid or so for a Tranny windscreen.

isn't the Mk3 screen bonded in? Or is that only the later ones?

Yeah, the screen fitters use a razor sharp 'Hooked thing'(<official name  ) to break the bonding without damaging the rubber surround, I thought I could get away with using the 'carpet cutter' blade from a Stanley knife......wrong....very very wrong!

We use cheese wire at work mate!!
Then the RAC man fits them for us, you 'have' to use special bonding sealer.

In fact, I shall be able to tell you exactly how to replace the 'screen soon because my Mk4 needs a new one.... after some local b*stard decided it would be fun to throw a stone at my perfect, original screen :x

I was thinking about getting some wire - handle either end, and heating it up with a heat gun then melting the sealer in a cutting action - 2 men - one inside one out - with the heat gun :?
get it! :?:  :?
would this would work??

Yup, that's the way to do it!!

Don't use heat tho! Once you get going, it'll be out in 3 minutes flat. I can do an Astra/Cavalier one on my own, but it's a whole lot easier with someone the other side!
