Mondeo dash problem

Postby Buzz-Billsberry » Fri Mar 03, 2006 8:35 pm

Fitted the Mondeo dash to my 95 smile everything else is working a part from... yes the rev counter!!

Here's a picky of the alternator which shows the 3 wires as reccommended that the dash will work straight away

Image

Any suggestions why the rev counter ain't working?

Have you run the extra wire from the alternator up to the cluster? If the wire isn't already there you will need the plug from the mondeo to go onto the cluster.

Ahhh I was under the impression that it would work staright away.I think some of the guys say that it would if it had the 3rd wire?

Where do I need to take the extra wire from on the alternator and what pin no on the dash plug?

The plug used on the dash is the standard one that was pluged in to the back of the orginal tranny big clock dash

Cheers

On the tranny plug on the back of the cluster it's one of the unused terminals. Someone said it's the grey wire on the alternator.

I think the Techanical how to needs to be changed really as it's misleading saying it works on all vans with 3 wires because from the sound of it so far it quite plainly doesn't!

Pretty sure it's the grey wire on the Mondeo plug, there is a post somewhere that does say all this but I can't find it.
