tonys smiley swb 80 cosworth v6

Postby OxtonyxO » Sun Apr 30, 2006 9:44 am

hi all just thought i had better start up a thread for my van as a lot will be happening to it soon!!

right i bought my van in july last year as i was self employed now i work for a company again the van is mine to do what i want with (wife permitting)

plans for the van:-

24v conversion done
rear discs
rear seats done
lowering springs
body kit maybe
central locking done

about 8 weeks ago i found a nice cheap cosworth granny on ebay for £250
which i am in the process of stripping

yesterday i picked up the engine plate i needed and exhaust manifolds, also my new doors with windows
today i will be welding up all my rusty holes in the floor pan, once this is done the lock holes will be welded up ready for the central locking.

right as you can tell i will be busy for the next couple of weeks with all this taken a while to get all the parts needed but now i have them all!!

just one more thing thanks to everyone here for all their help would not have been possible without it

will keep you posted

tony

Don't forget before, during and after pics ;)
It will make the process slower but will give you a pictorial sense of satisfaction later on plus might well help out others thinking of doing a similar thing.

Looks like it's coming on! I bet you can't turn that welder up past about 4 without tripping the whole house out!

nice to see you cutting it all out though :)

yup .... nice welder, i nearly got one of those, but got a migatronic 180mxe instead, either way you should be good with that, it will weld nice .... i do like the idiot guide labels on it

as for what came out .... i was expecting a pile of dust as i scrolled down :P so it could have been worse !

thats what i like to see, the sort of thickness steel that Fraud SHOULD have used in the first place

looking good there, looks like the welder is running nice

whats the red looking splatter around some of the welds ? ... you using an antisplatter spray or is that where you have sprayed inside the box sections first (i used a weld through primer from UPOL for a lot of mine, quite impressed with its durability)
