My new paint job is now complete! but what a fiasco to get there!!! went along to my local paint merchants looked at the colour charts of tekaliod and decided to have rocket red as my new colour..brought a litre of undercoat for said colour and went away happy.Put the first coat on with a brush that i was told would apply it perfectly...Wrong it didnt...i was left with tramlines in the finish which i then had to rub down again. After that was done went and brought another litre of undercoat got home opened up the can to find it was a completly different colour to what i had had previously so took it back and was told the first tin of paint i had was the wrong coloured undercoat and the second tim was the correct one!!!!!!!! so i decided to have one of the wrong colour again since i had already got this on the van. After three coats of undercoat and rubbing down in between i went off to buy the top coat colour..ROCKET RED PLEASE M8..and i got the right colour this time..put on the first coat and it looked like orange..dissapointed...went back to get a second can and was told they couldnt mix it as the computor was broken!! they eventually mixed some by hand which i asked them to go over the top with a scarlet red to give it some more red to the orange colour i had on the van. dashed home excited once again and it covered in one coat by a gloss radiator roller which is what i used after the disaster with the brush..gave it a second coat of topcoat and i must say its bright and looks fantastic.
On Wednesday and Thursday this week im travelling down to Weston-Super-Mare to pick up the graphics for the van which will be on 7 year vinal and will be a chrome dragon almost two meters ,long on each side..i will wait another week before i try to apply those as the paint does not appear to dry atm the top is fine but better safe than have to strip it again.
I have pics of the finished paint job that i will upload once the graphics are in place which should be about another three weeks time..overall the jobs been worth it as im quite proud of the finished job so far

The bed converts in two ways..either sliding the extentions outwards or i can remove them completly and store them at the back of the seating which is the way ive got it set up..mind you with it being a swb theres no room to walk once the bed is actually made up could be tricky unless you really know the person thats sharing with you

Just got my pics back so heres a few for you to look at..wont bore you with all of them but im over the moon with my van the way it looks considering it was done by hand..its far from perfect but i think it looks great!...the first pics are during the hard job of rubbing down and applying the primer/filler coat..followed by the three coats of undercoat and then the three coats of top coat and finally putting the graphics on the van

Dragon, correct me if I am wrong, but did you paint your van by hand using Tekaloid with a brush/roller? It looks fantastic by the way, nice dragons too!

Hi Tricky..yes it was painted by hand using tekaloid..the very first undercoat i applied was done with a brush but i wish i had used a roller like with all other coats that went on top of it
