Diff gears

I am currently in the process of fitting a 9" diff into my mk5 transit which has six stud wheels so that I have an unlimited choice of ratios. I am using the transit outer tubes, axles and hubs and fitting a 9" housing. The 9" diff itself needs the axle gears changed to the Transit ones to accept the Transit axles. The problem is the only way I have of obtaining these gears is to buy the complete rear axle assembly from a wrecker, which is quite expensive here in OZ. Does anybody have a set of these gears out of a diff or know where I can get some?

Also can anybody tell me if there was a inner panel covering the front side of the tail lights on this model, and if so are they available?

Which gears are you refering too? Im about to rip a diff out of a 6 studder... (well when I get round to it anyhow!

The gears I'm after are the gears that the axles plug into.

gelong diffs make side gears to suit 9 inch

I'll give them a call, however I have priced them from another company and they quoted $40.00 more than I payed for a complete rear axle assembly.

I reckon he will mean the 2 planet gears that the half shaft splines slide into. Saying that I have no idea if they are interchange-able. I would have thought not but I'm no expert.

How did you go with changing the diff in the Transit? Im interested to know as I like the idea of this conversion. I am in Aus also, and 1200 for a replacement diff.... id rather go with a 9"....

Hi Voodo, I'm currently swapping my 6 stud for an F100 9" drum to drum with a 3.5 ratio, measures up to 30mm narrower, however am redrilling axles to nissan 4x4 which gives a wide range of wheels and offsets, also f100 brakes are simpler and bigger. So will have a 6 stud diff d 2 d to give away. Cheers, Oh by the way got rid of that crappy 2.5 di also
