t5 to v6

Postby OxtonyxO » Mon May 21, 2007 7:34 pm

after fitting the cossie v6 a couple of months ago i now think my gearbox is on its way out
the problems is that with the van in neutral and ticking over the gearbox is grumbling

so i am looking at fitting the t5 box from a cossie saph :D

problems i can see so far are:-

1) where the gearstick comes out (any pics would be nice)
2) the bell housing (have been told that topboss :( make them or burton)
3)speedo as i have a vss speedo head (any help :?: )
4)prop , what would the cost and possibility of choping a cossie and tranny one
5) gear box mount would i need to fabricate one or adapt the cossie one

thats all i can think will cause probs
if anyone can think of anything else let me know (as this is not going to be cheap

also can everyone keep an eye out for a t5 box ,prop and crossmember :D

thanks peeps

Why do you want to go for a T5? Are you going to supercharge/turbocharge the engine (top boss?)? Otherwise a MT75 will do the job!

Maybe you'll ask this Granada owner about the bellhousing:

If you'd like to go for more power I'd recommend a Mustang 5.0 T5 box, which has more reserve to cope with the torque than the Sierra Cosworth one!

Are 87-93 5.0 Mustangs rare in Britain? These are yank bread-and-butter cars! I see how many rare us cars were/are destroyed on UK banger tracks, so there must be plenty of them in Britain I think! Even in Germany are lots of them compared with other us cars! Otherwise you might have a look at ebay: These transmissions are called "world class" T5!

I just have researched for the WC T5 on ebay UK: Nothing there! :( Maybe you should try US ebay: Loads of them for sale up there and it's really worth the shipping costs! :)

the easiest way to fit a t5 cossie box is to take the internals out and fit them to the mt75 box thats what the CYCO VAN has and it holds up well that way you wouldnt have to change the mounts prop speedo etc

Yep, that's the one to go for! :) But the idea Custom and MrMPuk had seems also to be to good! But then go for "world class" internals!

In case of the tax you might ask your local customs office, they know for sure!

just throwing some ideas around

my plate for the v6 to mt75 is a pinto plate redrilled

so if i use the bolt pattern from the pinto holes to bolt to the box and the v6 holes to bolt to the engine
what do you think?

that should mate the t5 box (which is a pinto pattern) to the v6 with just the cross member, vss, clutch cable and prop to sort :!:

yeah that would work but peronaly id get the t5 box and put the internals in the mt75 box much easier less work and the gear knob wont be behind you where as if you fit the mt75 box the gear stick comes out by the side of the hand brake and makes driving difficult

thats what im doing in the future as my second gear has started to go now especially if im booting it when i try to change from first to second it crunches like f*** and my box is out of a 2.9 ambulance so i thought that wud be ok but its not

this has already been discussed, the internals from a t5 will not fit in an mt75, they are totally different boxes built by different manufacturers
