any 1 lowerd there transit any tips?

any 1 lowerd there transit ive just got my 3rd transit and my plan is to build a custom 1

my plan was for the back was putting the back axel on top of the leaf springs this must drop it was 3 or 4 inches ?

the front just get some lower coil springs made

has any 1 done this ? any help would be great

think you may have problems with the chassis rails catching on the axle if you put the axle on top of the leafs

Take a leaf out the back

and cut the front coils a bit

yeah i think the chassis rails need notching out if you go this radical

but go for it it'll be cool

i might try the taking 1 of the leafs out 1st see if its low enough for me if not ill try my orig idea i only thourgh of that cause it would be just like a capri set up and could low it even more if i wanted to by using lowerd blocks lol

what about the spring/axle locating pin do you drill the axle to suit???

the right way to do the rear is get some decambered rear springs. leda suspension should be able to supply you with some, or at least decamber some for you.

Hi im wanting to lower mine 2001 yreg but it has got parabolic springs can these be decambered or is there another way?
I thought about some 14" wheels with low profile tyres has anybody tried this?

I looked into the spring under axle way but i think you would have to grind of the brackets of axle then reweld onto other side.

i made a phone call to leda suspension today asking if transit springs can be de-cambered they will be calling me back on mon/tue but dont see it being a problem price is about £90 per spring. i will post on here any more info

spoke to leda today they gave me the name of another place to try called jones springs in birmingham 01215687575 spoke to a chap called carl he confirned that they can decamber my single leaf springs by 3 to 4 inches if required, price for this is £35 per spring plus vat plus postage.(unless you live local to them of course)

why not just heat them up and bend them did they say what they do to them - ie do they retemper them

i assume so he said if i went 4 inches they would end up very flat.i need to have a look and measure to decide how low i want to go.i dont carry any weight now other than a tool box and jack on race days so who knows.........

THATS NOT A BAD PRICE i think ill be buying some leaf springs and getting them done oooo drop it 3 or 4 inches lol should be just right then

they are done cold on a special press. when leda did mine on my mk2 esky they had a hydraulic press set up with adjustable stops for different drops.
