got the pedal welded up today and ive started on the 2nd manifold the 1st one has been annealed so its all done

ive also had a thought about the relays - rather than take the wires through the bulkhead im gonna mount them in the engine bay too that way ive only got a few wires to take through the bulkhead

other than that im after a petrol tank granny or sierra as my granny one is rotton only to get it running tho

Today - pulled the engine back out - ive decided ive done enough measuring up and although i'd have liked to get all the turbo's exhausts etc. built up - then painted, i think to realistically get it done this summer i need to paint it now and get the engine back and running

ive also cut the gearbox pieceout and thats ready to weld in also now the tunnels bigger its so much easier to get the engine in and out

so tomorrow i hope to go up and clean the engine bay weld the gearbox tunnel in, one small bit of welding under the battery tray, scotch it all down ready for a coat of paint thats the plan anyway

earlier in the thread i mentioned the pas rack was fouling on the adapter plate - well today i cut out a chunk out to clear it

more progress engine bay is waiting for paint! so im taking the engine to work to pressure wash it in the yard heres a pic of it in the van



also this is the almost finished manifold the specs are degreaser splashes - they should wipe off



and this stud extracter snapped in the hole i hate the damn things but it got it moving so a bit of luck i'll still be able to get it out - if not i'll drill the opposite 2 corners




so once the bays painted it will be back in and try to get it running

get some high tensile bolts and make some

got new studs and nuts from frauds
replaced all the nuts and 6 studs

engine fitted today

i ended up drilling the opposite 2 studs - unfortunaly it isnt that think and i broke through hopefully it will be a waterway and the stud should seal it - but i now wish i'd put a bit more effort into getting the stud out



the only problem i have now is the box is too far over - almost as if one engine mount is too far back i'm pritty confident its not the one i made mabe its a mounting - i'll have to investigate further but ive fitted 2 new rubber mounts so i dont think its them

Def sounds like you drilled into the waterway but a decent amount of 'boss white' will seal the stud no problem, I've had to do it on several mini 'a' series cylinder heads

just a couple of mm less than the standard depth
if you wait i can tell you if mine cause any problems

Stainless wont be any good, stick with HT.
