Re-drilling mk3/4/5 front hubs

Obviously you'd get it machined flat before the heat treatment

How did the bearing bore go with the heat? is it still the same or is it out of round

well the heat treatment is only a normalise so i was gonna machine it after

tbh i havent checked the holes - i was thinking if they distort it will be the heat treatment that does it - i did the welding over an afternoon allowing it to cool each time after a few runs, but i'll try a couple of outer races in to check it before and after

So, how did the welded hubs go in the end, and is anyone still interested in some custom ones?

My new job is as a draughtsman using AutoCAD so I can do a good set of drawings that could go straight to someone with a CNC lathe if anybody was interested.
Would be cool to get some alloy hubs made too.

they are at the machine shop at the moment i havent forgot the drawing i promised you - i'm just very slow - still havent got mine sorted

i re-drilled the holes on my red mk4 fitted for the ford econoline wheels cant remember the pcd?fitted new studs ive never had a problem and they even run true lol

cool next time you have a wheel off can you get us a pic i always thought yours were on adapters cos they are soooooooo wide

the backs are on adapters.
but the fronts i got a pair of redrilled hubs with the wheels off 24vmk2 but they didnt fit my mk 4.
so i templated them and redrilled them on the pillar drill.
the original holes are still there too
i hammered that diesel engine as you know coz i hated it and wanted to blow it lol.
and i covered a few thou miles and through the van into some good bends and they have never been a problem..if i get chance ill whip a wheel off in the morning and take a pic.
i need to take pics of my damaged bonnet

ah right - i could have told you the mk2 ones wouldnt fit - i found that out the hard way too mk1/2/3 are same bearings but mk4/5 are different hopefully i'll get these im doing back from the machine shop next week

ill be doing the batvan as ive got some 17" splitrim look wheels with polished rims i was going to use 17"venoms they were 4 stud but i swapped them for the others as there 5 stud multifit

yeah i'm not a fan of 4 stud either - i think its pushing it too far
are you keeping em under the arches tho

id like them slightly pushed out if i can with some rs arches and kit on i want to keep batvan subtle as i dont want to spoil the murals
plus donate my time to red

4 stud on something this heavy is not such a good idea.....

i know its not a good idea but theres a few done and no one has mentioned having any probs
we dont really carry any weight either .but im going for the 5 stud anyway

cheers Dave quite a big pcd, looks around 140-150
does the wheels have indents for the hub bolts - if not i counterbored mine and fitted capheads - i did it on the pillar drill too
