Led Strip Lights Under Shelving...

Postby Mikee » Mon Jul 22, 2013 9:32 pm

Hi Guys/Gals,

I'm going to be fitting out my Mk7 with some wooden shelving soon and was just wondering how difficult would it be to connect up 12v LED strip lighting on the underside of the shelves and have them connected to the rear courtesy light circuit? I'm rubbish with current draws etc so not sure if this is feasible. Anybody with auto electrics experience have any ideas as to whether this could happen? Any help much appreciated!!! :D

Yes you can do it, LEDs have a very low current draw, and you will probably find that you don't even need the standard lights so can disconnect them

Cheers Ake,
I decided to get some of these as they are 'sticky backed' and can be cut to size...

As far as I can work out the max current draw will be around 2A so I'm hoping they'll be fine to be wired direct to the loadspace lights, a simple + and - connection and hopefully I'll be in business!

Good stuff Andy, thanks. Did you do the same thing as I intend to do?- if so does it work okay and did you wire it straight from the rear courtesy lights? Ta!
