Axle location ?

Postby Terry » Sat Jun 23, 2007 12:18 pm

What is it supposed to do ?
Being fitted to the spring it MAY help reduce tramp but I doubt it.
Any side to side movement of the axle is gonna be at the spring ends, on the rubber bushes/spring hanger, so it won't prevent that.
Seems to be another pointless accessory to me.
I got a little black book with me poems in

that flimsy thing cant stop tramp maybe its there to stop the axle from being ripped out when winching it onto a flat bed

I still cant see how

anti tramp bars stop the axle winding up on the springs
lateral location should be done with stout bars located to the body not the springs
i am confident these bars wont work and could break the axle casing
tis eye leclair

mk5 flareside with taillift and im keeping it

The site that Tony pointed us to claims these bars reduce lateral movement by 80%................complete bullshit, any improvements they make are in the drivers head.
If you are gonna locate your rear axle properly its gotta be a 5 link setup
I had a 2.8 crapi as a company car years back & I don't remember there being any axle location problems.
