Emergency! Graffiti on my Mark 6!

Postby Cooter » Fri Apr 04, 2008 1:20 pm

Is there a cheap way to getting rid of the lovely fresh graffit thats been so kindly left on the side of my gleaming white Mark 6? All done in a kind of permanent thick black paint/marker pen.

The little f***! And I live out in the sticks in the countryside!

Petrol or thinners will do the job

Will that not effect the bodywork paint though?

try a litttlke bit on an inconspico=uous spot first, but petrol should be ok as it doesent affect the paint when you splash some down the side of the car filling up?

a bit of T cut may also help!

If it's paint, thinners will get it off, or petrol lighter fluid. You will be less lucky with marker pen, as it sinks in. Try a bit of T cut on it, or rubbing compound.

I've tried white spirit and tcut, neither worked however the tcut did fade it slightly. I'm gutted, only had this van a week

It is a marker pen effort, in which case where would I find this compound stuff?

go with a fine grit compound and should do the trick.

you can get rid of perminant marker pen by drawing over it with a non-perminant marker pen then just wipe off :D

Try nail varnish remover and a soft cloth, should remove it all with no paint damage.

as Fred says marker pen sinks into the paint so go carefully - try Luke's dry wipe pen method

lostpaul67 you my friend saved the day. Nail polish remover was the tool needed along with gentle rubbing, its surprising how potent that stuff is! Anyway, graffiti has now totally gone, however paintwork is a tiny bit patchy here and there so not perfect but hardly noticeable.

Thanks all for the concern :)
