finally got one....

Postby Gavin » Sun Jan 07, 2007 10:56 pm

after spending 3 months looking.....and seeing my expectations and budget rise from about 800 quid to two grand...funny how that happens, eh?...i ended up back where i started, buying one off a mate....

stickers are coming off cos they are a bit naf (sorry wez), its got a couple of nasty bits or rot, but not in the usual places, they are in non critical places and easily fixed, 121k on a perfect 2.0 efi petrol engine, drives and rides superbly, will do a ton and cruises at 85 all day long, cant argue with it for under 500 quid, including 6 months tax and ticket :D especially considering i often spend more than that per year hireing the things

gonna be perfect for some trackdays and rallies this year, plus all the work i need to do on the house........

must admit im suprised at how good the petrol is. its the same motor that was in my old 2.0GLS sierra, and its not a lot slower than that was! its really nippy up to about 60mph, especially once you are already moving.

all the vans i have driven lately have been diesel or TD, but they are rather clunky in comparison to this, even the modern stuff. the last petrol i drove was a t reg ex police 3.0mk2 lwb, with the twin rear wheels and rubbery arches, and leaf sprung front beam, but that was a total shed and would only do about 65mph
