Mk1 front axle change to mk2

Postby Jazwood » Fri Oct 28, 2005 11:02 pm

Hi, has anyone changed a mk1 front axle to a mk2 with disc brakes? I'm told its easy as, just a few bolts and connecting the brakes up - is there any hidden probs? Also did the early mk3 have a rigid front axle that could also go on a mk1?
cheers

Have done this in the past, quite easy, and worthwhile too (better brakes)

Does that not cause problems with the braking cylinders?
disk brakes need more pressure, don't they?

We didn't change the servo, and the brakes were fine. Always passed the test anyway.
