Hi all, I was wondering if you can help me with the following issue or point me in the right direction.
I have a 2016 MK8 Ford Transit Custom 2.0 Diesel Adblue Trend. It’s been sat for some months unused due to health issues and as a consequence, the battery was dead. I have put a brand new battery on it and it starts and runs fine (though I do smell something very faintly in the cab like exhaust fumes, but then my window was open, so I didn’t read too much into that). It had been sat running for around 20 mins when I suddenly got a message on the dash saying “Service Required” and a yellow “i” icon. When I then tried to rev the engine, I noticed it wouldn’t go above 2,000 revs. If I turn off the ignition and wait a while, and restart it, the message is no longer there (well it may be, but it doesn’t show up) and if I leave it a while, it reappears.
Any idea what I should be looking at? Could it be due to the vehicle sitting stationary for so long. It’s only done about 1,000 miles since its last MOT almost a year ago. Any thoughts on things I could try, in order to diagnose the issue or simple things I could eliminate before having to have it towed/trailered into Ford.
Many thanks in advance.
